Being able to enjoy old classics on my linux box is a great feeling. And it works flawlessly for me.

When I try to compile the emulator it says I need to get zlib. Does anyone know how to get zlib rpms?

A search for "zlib" in your distro's repostiories is bound to miss it. The package you'll need to install is most likely called libz-devel, although it might be different depending on your specific distro.

Too bad some hotkey bindings I used to use a lot can't be set up anymore, for example setting up keys for the different save state numbers, or for pausing the game (I have R mapped to P, so whenever I press R the emulator pauses). Other than that, the new additions (TV style filter, movie dumping, save state "pages") are amazing.

At first I thought the same thing, but they're just in a different menu now. It's not "Input" anymore but somewhere further to the right I think.

i think the bit about network play is misleading. it has been disabled for the indeffinate future. so surely they should modify that as i downloaded with the belife that i could play against someone online :/

1.5.0 is an excellent update to ZSNES. It has fixed several performance problems I've had, and is all in all a fantastic release. Thanks for the excellent work!

Was pretty easy to install, even for me! I needed to complete some SDL parts. I did spend the whole morning trying to get "modprobe ns558" to work on my box, but finally i decided: "Screw you modprobe ns558!!" , I'll learn how to use the keybord for ZNES.

Lol, same problem here - Try this one;
$ /sbin/modprobe joydev
$ /sbin/modprobe ns558
$ /sbin/modprobe analog
$ /sbin/modprobe interact

I have two plugged in ; one in USB other in Soundard port - neither worked , since i put this in the rc.local, now , not only Soundcard port works, but USB too!

and you can test with this;
$ jstest /dev/js0

ZSNES has always been the best SNES emulator for windows, now tha I quit windows and went to Linux, it's the best here too.

My HTML sucks, lemme try again;

$ /sbin/modprobe joydev
$ /sbin/modprobe ns558
$ /sbin/modprobe analog
$ /sbin/modprobe interact

And
$ jstest /dev/js0
for testing via command line

jtest? You can always do a "cat /dev/js0" and watch the screen, but get ready to hit CTRL-C to stop and blind type 'reset' , if your joystick sends something that by coincidence is a terminal command.

I've tried many emulators for many platforms, and ZSNES is by far the best of them all: I've only ever encountered one bug (isolated in Chrono Trigger), and it's plenty fast and stable.

I highly recommend it to anyone who loved their SNES.

No. It means that it's only his personal opinion, and he's showing a bit of humility, unlike you. Give the guy a break.

  Very good, except 1 problem posted by Bradlis7 @ 170.76.22.10 on Oct 3 2003 8:43 AM 55555
I run it on my Red Hat Linux, and sometimes the sound gets like 2 seconds behind the game. I have to save my game and restart for it to work. I've tried to configure it to fix it, but i don't think that's the problem. It might be the accellorator key that messes it up. Other than that, the emulator's great. I can't get mario kart to work well, but that's not a game i would play much anyways. Nice job making an emulator like this. Thanks zsnes people.
