XPilot Screenshot A networked multi-player 2D space game.

This is an excellent multiplayer action game. It's sort of like a wireframe Maelstrom, only you can play against many other people either on your own or as a team. There's a large variety of goodies like mines, lasers, multiple shots, and cloaking devices. Requires a fast net connection and preferably an accelerated video card.

XPilot is a very fun game, and it's a shame so few people play it. I think this game needs more attention. Despite its simple graphics and halfway confusing keybindings (they're not really that bad when you get used to it, and it's probably so scrambled looking to make it feel more like a spaceship), this game really grows on you. Especially if you enjoy old games like I do.

Ok so I download this thing and start playing, when I realise it's based on the qwerty layout, and you don't seem to be able to change the keys. 'a' and 's' on a Dvorak keyboard are on either sides of the keyboard. And it looked like such a decent game...

Xpilot keeps its players hooked. posted by Anonymous @ 217.215.20.135 on Sep 30 2002 3:01 PM
I started playing xpilot in '95, and had a long break from '98 to 2001 due to lack of unix. When I logged in again, I noticed that most players were still playing. That sais someting about that the concept is right, and doesnt need fancy graphics to stay hot. How many people plays Doom I theise days!!??! Xpilot is simply a great game where skill (or sui) is everything.

Well - This is a game that will suck you in and spit you out. dont be decieved by the innocent looks, its the cutting edge of game play, we are talking pico-second reaction times (as long as you have broadband type links). There is no end to the depth of this game if you are willing to go out there and chase it. You need to hone your skills before hitting the public servers and getting totally wasted. by the way, there is a small branch of the main development , prettier graphics and fps if you like.. See here

This game is wonderful. There is no better networked game. Doesn't need much in the way of PC, although the bigger your screen, the better. Don't be put off by some of the crueller pros. Just be glad you've got more of a life than them (that won't last: give it a month, once you're hooked!)

This is a disgusting game. Don't play it. It's full of suiciders, newbie-ballers, whiners and local-wussies.

This game is too addictive. OK, it's a little bit hard at the beginning to fight against all these experts, playing only xpilot since 10 years. But doesn't that say everything? A 10 years old game which is still a highlight?
