A 3rd person, side-view, fast-action, kill-them-before-they-kill-you game.

XEvil is a weird platform game. Your character is incarnated as a hero, a chopper-boy, or a ninja. Collect the weapons which drop from the sky and use them to slaughter creatures from Aliens, lemmings, frogs, and characters which look an awful lot like you. The weapon variety is interesting: it includes a frog gun (turn your target into a frog), flamethrowers, shurikens, and the soul-swapper. The game can be set to play levels, indiscriminate slaughter mode, a duel between two people at the same keyboard, or special scenarios (including one in which you must save the lemmings!).

I ran across this game in a list of free, open source games. It sounded interesting to I downloaded it. Two weeks later and I haven't stopped playing! Even though the controls take a little bit of getting used to, it's INSANELY addictive. A real great game for killing time, just pick it up anytime, and drop it any other time. Good for killing three minutes waiting for an email, or two hours waiting for something interesting to happen in the "Real World". If you enjoy 2D platforming, or 16bit mayhem, I CANNOT recommend this game enough!

XEvil is incredible. The newer rendition is every bit as addictive as the old black-and-white version that charmed Linux gamers around the world. Plus, any game with transmogifiers (of Calvin and Hobbes fame, of course) has to be cool. :P

This game is totally awsome! I used to have a black and white version of it,I still think that the black and white version is better.

I have Xevil 1.5 for my linux system and i am very addicted to it. When i found xevil2.something i downloaded it immediately. It totally sucked. The chopperboys, once little green guys, are now extremely stupid looking, as are the aliens, once evil black things, now pussy purple, its like they took 1.5 and crapped on it.
