Warsow Screenshot A Fast Paced FPS Game

Warsow is a standalone first person shooter for Windows and Linux. It is under the GPL and based on the 3D Engine Qfusion (a modification of Quake 2's engine). It offers eSport oriented FPS, fast-paced gameplay focused on trix (trick jumps) and the art of move. It offers a complete Power-up System including Weak and Strong fire mode for each weapon. The graphics are in a cartoonish style with celshading-like_but_not_Manga style, mixing dark, flashy and dirty textures, matching the action full of fun and speed. The game got some of its inspiration from titles like Quakeworld, Quake3 CPMA, Jet Set Radio or Speedball.

Great game. Try it! The screenshot does not do it justice. It's quite polished and has some nice innovations.

Downloaded it a few days ago on my office computer. I was never a huge fan of quake2, but the the visuals and game play great. At this point there are only a handful of maps and nobody on-line playing, but with more development this will be an amazing game. definitely should end up a candidate for GOTM with some community work on maps and some extra feature this would be something great.

I like this less than other multiplayer I have tried. I say so for one reason its a serious shooter. The screenshot does not do it justice its beautiful, everything from the menus to the game itself.

Really nice trough I'd like to see animated weapons and more particles FX. Could be a great competitor to Quake and Unreal in lan party... I'd love to see enormous map, ie. outdoor, if it can be done. A domination or Onslaught style game could be awesome.

I just played the normal deathmatches (that are great, as well), before, but the funniest things are the racing maps!

The game itself is wonderfully fun. Instagib CTF servers are a riot. Running on a 2.6.17 kernel here with open-source radeon drivers and this game works *beautifully*. Note that the precompiled binaries don't work on many machines, as they're dynamically linked against specific versions of various different kerberos-related libraries - to fix this, download the SDK, unzip (anywhere will do), go into the source/ directory and run make. The game's makefile is, by the by, a work of art. Compilation doesn't take very long (I barely had time to make a cup of tea while it compiled on a Duron) and then simply overwrite the various files in the directory where warsow is installed with the newly compiled equivalents in the source/release/ directory.
