Doesn't run (at least with some javas) posted by samsonne @ 141.151.144.92 on Feb 1 2005 1:27 PM 1

I tried to start a new game every way I could using the downloaded binary distribution, but every time it stalled on "setting up the map". The bugzilla on the project page doesn't want to send me my registration email either. How can I give feedback without being able to submit a bug report?

In case the developer reads this I'm using railz 0.3.3 with JRE 1.5.0 on Debian.

As this page says about current version (0.3.x): It is essentially "unstable" i.e. there are no guarantees that everything will work.

I think there was no need to you rate it 1-star, nor need to rate it any-star, since you didn't even play it. Of course, I don't like when programs don't work at my PC, but in this case, this is still a very early release.
I don't want to start a flame war.

About the game, it looks good, but is still buggy. After some long minutes of playing, suddenly the time "stopped" and the game "hung", although the interface still worked.

1) it doesn't actually stall, it just takes a long time to start new maps - try waiting (go make a cup of tea or something)

2) rating it 1* for that is immature

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I've fixed the Bugzillla config, so that should now work (someone has to be the first user to try it other than me!). If you're still reading this forum, you should be able to log the bug - if you can run it and send me the console output (if it's a hang, pressing Ctrl-\ in the console window may also produced helpful output). I'm afraid I don't have much time or resources to do testing on all platforms - I develop on OS X with Java 1.4.2 and it should work on 1.5 with other platforms, but I haven't tested it. Rob

Fun, lots of fun posted by charlieg @ 81.154.207.86 on Jan 25 2005 2:02 AM 4444
This was a real throwback to the original Railroad Tycoon, a game that probably captured my attention more than any other (although I was 10 at the time). I really look forward to seeing future improvements in this game, hoping it will continue to build on the simple-but-fun RT experience.
