Penumbra: Black Plague Screenshot Penumbra: Black Plague is a first person horror adventure focussing on story

Penumbra: Black Plague is a first person horror adventure focusing on story, immersion and puzzle solving. Unlike Penumbra: Overture, violence and combat are not even an option - the player has to use his/her wits to guide Philip through his final test, and this makes the game unique in offering a truly dangerous and terrifying experience.

Played from a first person perspective and powered by a 3D engine utilizing cutting edge technology, Penumbra: Black Plague is a true advancement to the adventure genre. The unique physics system allows for true environmental interaction in a way only comparable its predecessor. The player can open drawers, pull levers, pick up objects and now manipulate those objects in 3D space - all using natural mouse movements, creating a highly interactive and immersive game world.

Already waiting for the expansion! Release for Linux is "Coming soon" on http://www.penumbrarequiem.com/site/buy.php
I don't mind waiting for a high quality native Linux port and these guys take it seriously. :) This is the sort of development all Linux gamers should support.

Very nice native linux game! I played it under 1680*1050 resolution with max graph settings - it seems that its graphics even better than STALKER's one - awesome. Must have!

The Penumbra games are among the best adventure games released for pretty much any platform over the past few years. Cool physics engine utilized to create engaging puzzles with multiple solutions, immersive story and creepy, pervasive atmosphere of supernatural Lovecraftian horror that reminded me of the good old days of Alone in the Dark so long ago. Five stars it is.

The requirements are lower, so you should be able to.

Are you thinking of this one?

Penumbra: Overture

That was part 1 - this is part 2. There should be an expansion pack for this one to make it part 2+.

I've played the demo and it's fairly intense. Not having any weaponary to defend oneself makes you very wary of anything that moves. When you hear creatures banging around or see torchlight swinging in your direction, the sense of fear is quite palpable. This is not Quake 3 in the dark - this feels like Thief 3 in "no kills" mode.
