Hi,

I tried the game, and (of course!) also wanted to use my steering wheel (Logitech Momo). However, the game is unplayable with it :-(
Even with full rotation of the wheel the car does hardly turn, so I'd have to brake down to (almost) halt to get around even not-so-sharp turns. So some configuration options for sensitivity etc. are desperately needed! Apart from that it looks like a very nice racing game. I'll give 3 stars for now and wait with playing it more often til the wheel issues are solved (racing games via keyboard aren't that much fun....)

Veramente uno dei migliori giochi a cui ho mai giocato sul pinguino. Divertentissimo in single player; da non perdere la modalità multi player. Speriamo di vedere presto nuovi tracciati e magari qualche nuova automobile ;)

Still not terribly fun posted by crossmr @ 204.191.161.130 on Aug 27 2006 8:43 PM 22
I thought I'd give it another go, still terribly not fun. No increases in times, and even though I completed it once before I'm 20 minutes into simple 8 and still haven't passed it. As several have mentioned, increase the times slightly, maybe have easy/hard times, and frankly if you touch a railing anywhere outside of 10 feet from the finish line, just have the car explode on contact it saves everyone time.

No need to be aggressive ... In the 1.1/1.2, we've designed the "Beginners" mode (until the dynamic story mode is finished) so every people can play the game, even without particular skills. Trying to finish the "Advanced" mode is great, but it's not an easy task, and that's what we want.

but I've previously completed the advanced mode, and completed the beginners mode again this time around, and yet I'm still running into a situation where I'm 20 minutes into a single track I haven't beat it. That screams of a "luck" based game and not a skill based game.

"Skills" is when you can finish any track of the game whith only one try, as many regular ManiaDrive players are able to do. If you must retry 100 times a track that you've already finished, then you're not skilled yet (and the Beginners mode is here to explain you how to do).

We already had this discussion together a few months ago ... we added a Beginners mode, despite your insults (read again all your previous posts), and you keep saying the same thing. Sorry, I can't do more, I refund you ...

Much more polished than other stunt/racing games I've come across for Linux, 5 stars for the great work so far. You should be able to adjust sound effect volume as well,

Just beat the game last night posted by Anonymous @ 12.25.236.196 on Aug 23 2006 6:46 AM
If you are complaining about this game being to hard then I guess it achieved its goal. TrackMania is the same way. The point of the game is to keep redoing the tracks until you have them memorized and can haul ass at top speed through the entire thing. The only one that is impossible imo in 1.2 is the second to last one. All you have to do is cheat to beat that one :) There is a big jump that you'll encounter about 1m30s into the run (its also the last checkpoint). Don't keep moving forward; stop and turn around and jump off the lower ramp, down, into the first tunnel you enter when starting the level and drive across the start line back wards. This might be the only way to beat the map although I came within 7seconds doing it the regular way. Even using the technique described above will take several tries. The last track just don't hold down the gas when you hit the turbos and you'll launch high enough through the checkpoint and hit the start line. There are several maps under the Internet Tracks section but I haven't found one thats as good as any of the game supplied maps. I think many of those game supplied maps use ideas from trackmania maps as well. This is an interesting game and will only get better as the engine improves, imo.

Thanks for your report, but giving the trick to finish the last track in not fun (nor fair). All the fun of this track is finding the physics trick ...

honestly I think the 'cheat' is supposed to be there. why would they put that tunnel on a straight away? it makes no sense at all to me. the tunnel itself offers a perfect way to jump down that height and stay on the track. if the tunnel wasn't there you'd bounce right off the track because of the height. if you are referring to the physics trick on the last map then really anyone who has played the game to the last level is going to figure it out after a hand full of tries anyway. one other fun thing i've found in the game is if you land down on the grass and you hit a ramp from the underside fast enough it will launch you super high into the air. can't wait for more maps. there are a few internet maps that are interesting but nothing great. maybe someone can write a program to convert trackmania maps to maniadrive.

*Every* track of the story mode can be finished without any cheat. This was tested enough times by enough people, believe me ;)

About the last track, I can confirm you that thousands of players were able to finish the track and found the trick by themselves (as you did, no ? :), as you may see on the "Live Scores".

Now that you've revealed two "secrets" of the game, we must work harder and harder again to release a new set of tracks for the next "big" release :)

There's no plan for importing TM tracks, but ... maybe you can wait for a surprise with "Stunts" tracks ... ;)

  Great game ! posted by zekriss @ 85.128.91.246 on Aug 21 2006 5:35 AM 4444
"Simple 8" is pretty hard, but I don't agree with the rest of the critics that the game in general is very hard. Furthermore I think the graphics and the controls of the car are pretty good - not like in other games where they allow you to do anything (and you stay on the track) or nothing (because it's not playable). Furthermore the challenges are much fun - I like it better than Torcs for example... keep up the good work ! a few comments : - rear speed is much too slow ! - an overview of the tracks would be a good thing - could be nice to have choice between 2 or 3 different cars - and... change the time for "simple 8" to 32s PLEASE !!!
