June 22, Enemy at the Gates Screenshot Battlecity clone

Tanks Are At The Gates Again.

Throngs of enemy armour are spreading in your sector while your single tank is everything that stands between the enemy armada and your HQ...

This game is a real gift for all the old-school fans of Battlecity and its clones, as it incorporates all the features of the the original title, adding some new and really good ones. First at all, the game is rendered in a full 3D with a possibility to tilt your camera to get a better viewpoint. Note that your tank turns smoothly, so the various ambush tactics can be implemented.

All the original levels of the Battlecity are present in the game, plus a lot of new ones are added. The terrain itself is coloured in several different landscapes and is visually variable. Moreover, the terrain type influence the game process: both your and enemy tanks move slower in the desert, and while on the snow you may experience difficulties controlling your tank.

But, despite the number of improvements, the essence of the game remained the same - be quick, sharp and decisive while destroying your enemies. Use the number of upgrades like additional armour and improved gun, or powerful battlefield features like freezing off your enemies or raising concrete wall around your HQ. Finally, if you feel the game is too hard for yourself, you may invite your friend and play the game together on the same screen.

    Feautures:
  • 3D-rendered battlefield with adjustable camera position
  • Smooth targeting adds new flavour to the old game
  • 4 enemy tank types
  • 6 possible upgrades
  • 4 terrain types
  • several different landscape styles (barren lands, snowfields and urban ruins) that alter tanks characteristics
  • Play the game in the cooperative mode along with your friend on the same computer
  • 35 classical levels from original game could be revisited
  • 50 absolutely levels designed especially for June 22-EatG

The game is quite fun and the linux version is even free yay. The tank movement little bit disturbing(damn rotation). What I really dislike is the Soviet theme. If I where Russian maybe it was ok, but I am not. Why not to put svastikas and Hitler instead (for me it would be same thing) ;)

"Why not to put svastikas and Hitler" Because for DECADES now, that means bad things such as banning occurring for anything that you want to spread around in Europe. It's just like a European trying to spread around a JFK assasination game in the USA. Because of the Cold War, putting USSR stuff in games works much better....and Russians see that for what it is, i.e. they lack the insipid knee-jerk.

I am from Czech Republic, which was occupied by Russians from 1968 practicaly to 1989, and I don't see a point in fighting against this russian theme. If It was nazy theme, I would not fight against it either and the situation is similar, we was occupied by Nazys over whole WWII. The point is: if it is only theme for game which doesn't propagate ideas of these people (communists or nazys) why bother?

considering how many games about the US military there are, like Conflict: Vietnam (where over 3 million were killed due to US military intervention) back to old classics like Raid Over Moscow, fair's fair buddy. Best thing about this game by far is the rockin versions of their classic military songs, especially Proshanie Slavanke, and Katyusha was good though it was short. If the authors make an update, what should be added is control options. It would be more fun to use a gamepad to slaughter those fascists. And some more music, like a guitar version of Svyashennaya Voina.
