For those of you with the shareware version, have you tried file sharing software (kazaa, edonkey, etc...)? For obvious reasons I cannot say I condone this, but you would be surprised how easily available ANYTHING, even stuff as old as heretic, is.

Better than Doom, not better than Quake. The scenarios are very large evenin this demo version, so you can spend a long time playing it! The game can surprise you sometimes (Marcelo Nunes)

I preferred Heretic over Doom and i've been testing everything that i could to run it on Linux and this is the best. Even SVGAlib version. Enjoy it.

Looks like a good port of the original, except for the mouse controls. It seems like the mouse controls are off quite a bit. I don't have anywhere near the control with a mouse as I did in the DOS verstion, even with the sensativity turned all the way up.

I was pretty disappointed with the Linux versions of Doom (though I haven't tried any in the last year or two...). But the Linux version of Heretic is rock solid -- you'd swear you were running the original DOS version. This port makes me want to sift through the bargain bins in the local software stores to see whether I can dig up a copy of the non-shareware version.

Frank I'm 41 years old and have played a lot of computer games.I was getting to where nothing could interrest me.Or keep my mind on the game.Untail about an year ago a friend gave me Heretic. I like the game batter then any I've ever played.I can play it over and over. Each time that I play it's like the first time all over. Now it is even batter. Not to long ago I got a wad editor program. Now I can make my own level. Thats grate to make a game then play it and look at your work. Thanks to those who made HERETIC. If anyone would to exchange Wads you have made for one I've made> you can e-mail me at janice@bbtel.com I could use some pointers. HAPPY HERETIC FRANK

Well, I agree with you. Heretic is an awsome game, even though it's old it still is one off those Good 1st person shooters that are made by Raven software, like Hexen!
