Hi. Do you also have the problem that the mouse does not work if you return to the desktop (Ubuntu 6.06)? But beside this the game is really wonderful.

That shouldn't be happening. Run it from the console, and give me any errors.

./gunroar ./gunroar: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Isn't this one of those files that if you change it, your whole system breaks?

It depends mostly on your distro. If your package manager won't allow you to have more than one libstdc++ installed, then yeah. Removing your old libstdc++ wil break stuff. Badly.
If your distro is one of these, you can still grab a binary package from the net (slackware packages are convenient for this sort of thing, as they're .tar.gz files, but there are tools to extract .debs and .rpms too) and extract the .so into the program's directory, and then run it with "LD_PRELOAD=./libstdc++.so.6 ./gunroar"

Here you have a perfect example of why Linux will never pick up.

And no need to reply to that post, I wont have to to answer as I'll be playing Gunroar on my virus infected, security whole ridden, virtually unusable Window machine.

(And on a side note, why the heck does every forum mainly frequented by Linux geek expect me to use HTML tags to format my posts! Feels like the Linux "do it our way or you are a useless noob" mentality)

Well, while you are at it, you could posibly check the-underdogs.info for other interesting "windows only" games. Fat better than this linux crap, you know.

Oh, wait, what windows version do you use? Well, then most of those games wont work, since they expect an old directx version. Well then you can allways fix it by copying the directx dll's and appending to your icon something like... oh.

Right, you are on Windows, you dont have such a way to fix it. Better go find that old windows 95 machine on your garage if you want to run that games. But don't worry, Windows is really far better than this old style no-noobs linux stuff. It doesn't give you a nice way to fix such a problem, but it sure is better, virus and all...

  Gamepad recommendations? posted by @ 193.166.236.114 on Mar 20 2006 1:06 AM
Does anyone have recommendations on good dual analog gamepads for use with Gunroar? I myself have a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog 3 gamepad, which is otherwise pretty good, but the analog controls are a bit limited. They have some deadzone for each axis which means that directions up, down, left and right get emphasised and it's hard to make fine adjustments to your aim. I heard that most gamepads are like this, which seemed pretty odd for me, but I guess most games don't require such fine control over the angle.

I really like my Logitech Wingman rumble pad, which I bought at a discount almost four years ago. It works perfectly with Linux, although there seems to be no support for force feedback, tho I can't attest to its accuracy as I've mostly used it to play old N64 games :-D

Not his best, I like tumiki fighters and torus troopers best. Maybe it's just my computer - I haven't seen anybody else complaining about this but the ship rotates way too fast, and jerkily. But I love the red target beams as mentioned earlier.
