While from what I read on the developer forum at the forums...

Rules to distribute your binary:
- Include source.
- Little more.

Their licensing does resemble the GPL a lot, this people aren't using the GPL but some sort of crazy license which is not compatible with anything written in informal english.

This is very bad, indeed.

It's the QTPL, with very small modifications. Only the actual game data is under the "bizarre, informal license". And the QTPL is because some source is shared with the server: really, it was either that, or just have kept the client closed.

And so, it's not compatible with the GPL, after all. What a shame, since it's not bad a client :(

Fuck. GPL sucks. If you're going to make your source free, then make it free, gawdammit. But, whatever... People can do whatever the hell they want. The game doesn't totally blow, but the "fun" factor wore off after the first day for me. I can't be bothered to register, but I'd only give it 2 stars.

it is, but you can change to isometric view, too, if your hardware is not that quick

generally you can rotate the view freely and zoom in/out, although the maximum zoom out value got a bit capped compared to the version before from what i subjectively felt

if you didn't yet, you should try it out - this is a real timeeater

  Nice Game posted by tuppe666 @ 85.210.42.172 on Feb 3 2006 3:46 AM 55555
I'm new to MMORPG think, so my experience is limited. Its very playable on my otherwise very poor intergrated graphics card(intel extreme2). The think what made it shine is the willingness of othes to help. The othewise clueless newbies like myself. I was very surprised at the help offered, any faults I could find with the game have been washed away by 3 days playing solid. Hard to get into and addictive, but most good games are.

The game is good, but moderators... posted by dejan @ 81.216.231.195 on Dec 10 2005 4:21 PM 55555
Eternal Lands is indeed a good game, but unfortunatelly I have found behavior of (not all) moderators pretty rude, and disrespectfull. IMHO, many of them took the role of playing a "God" too seriously.

Oh, how tedious posted by Anonymous @ 68.14.178.55 on Nov 14 2005 9:08 PM
The game provides nothing new to the MMORPG world. It's all the same; yu go out, fight monsters, come back and get new weapons to fight bigger monsters. Your basic hack and slash. There are no fun twists, interesting ideas, or even appealing graphics to draw you away from the tedious work of levelling up. The controls are moderately simple to handle, but other than that the game lacks structure in any shape, form, or fashion. Even the customability of characters is limited when looking at most MMORPGs including free ones. I don't blame for having some items be payed for though. Everyone needs a little money. I just feel sorry for the poor saps that get sucked into this game when it has no original value. I guess people like to put money into crappy places.
