After a few problems http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?p=2847918#post2847918 I got Cube to work and it is good. Hard but not as hard as Nexuiz. Thanks Wouter van Oortmerssen. :)

It's a quite fun game for a fragfest, though the somewhat underdeveloped singleplayer lacks a real challenge for those seeking for a change of pace, that's why I only gave it 3 Stars(Good game). However, I think there are too much Open-source "quake-like" and mostly multiplayer-oriented games already. I would rather see a FPS project which intends to develop an AI like the one of the Marines in Half-life 1 or of the Skaarj in Unreal 1, or which intends to be a FPS + RPG hybrid, like System Shock(1 and 2) and Deus Ex 1. I know "quake-like" seems to be more popular, but I believe many seek a more unique FPS game, because honestly, in such genre, most if not all Open-source games are several variations of quake. They are fun, but it tends to get old.

It runs very very smoothly on my ubuntu box (Celeron 2.4GHz, 512 ram, Gforce 64MB card MX 4000), far more smoothly than quake2 But unfortunately it is notvery stable. In SP mode it crashes with no warning after 2 - 5 minutes. Sometimes when I go to the menu it siezes up and I have to restart gnome. I run it on my mac mini (256MB RAM) too. It is not as smooth as on the linux box, but doesn't crash. Any ideas on why it crashes?

Depiste my best efforts at detailing the problem to them, as well as others, they simply don't seem to believe there exists a problem. There must be some way to get them to look at this and rectify the situation. It's hard to understand and explain why the crash occurs since the gameplay seems fine up until everything just eventually freezes. It wouldn't be so bad if I could just have closed and restarted Cube but it would freeze my entire system and I would have to hard boot. I am using Ubuntu (Breezy Badger) as well and Nvidia geforce MX 400 with hardware acceleration.   [Reply]
