Armagetron Advanced Screenshot Armagetron Advanced is an enhanced version of Armagetron, a 3D lightcycle game

Armagetron Advanced is an enhanced version of Manuel Moos' Armagetron, but with added features like a HUD (Heads Up Display) and better spam protection.

It's a single player as well as online/lan multiplayer arcade style game, where you drive a light cycle. (Based on the movie Tron.)

Your light cycle leaves a wall behind you, and you must avoid hitting other players while trying to get as many to hit your wall as possible.

With up to 32 player madness, let the games begin!

This may be a popular game, but online it's one of the furthest from being real Tron. The biggest problem is the lag-compensation scheme allows players to momentarily stop and change direction, so once you've got all the controls down, you can hit a wall but then turn before you explode... and you can keep trying different directions and you won't explode as long as you find the right direction. So it's nearly impossible to kill anyone who has mastered this technique, no matter how dense and crazy the walls are. It also allows players to build extended private wall networks and then double back on them to accelerate to insane speeds. And like most pc games the control system has been exploited for advantages, so a cycle can perform an instantaneous 180 with no sideways trail at all. Deleted it before, and I'm ignoring this update, since they didn't say they changed any of this.

That entirely depends on the server settings. We developers don't encourage the kind of servers that allow you do to this to this extent. Regarding double-binding(180°s), we allow it, but, to my knowledge, at least one server forbids it with a setting. So, for short: hate the server not the game :)

  Very good game posted by TBOL3 @ 24.2.109.60 on Jun 22 2007 3:43 PM 55555
This is a wonderfully game, about the only one I will give 5 stars. Yes, it would be easier to add external maps, but it's not as hard as some other games. The network play is wonderful. With many servers, providing different games, which automatically download and run. Overall, the only thing I would do is add more art pack choices, and make it more easy to install maps. I find it interesting that this game gets a 4, but the original Armagetron has a 5.

I cannot download this game. I don't know why. I think it has something to do with me not being able to get the software, the software being in a different link than the one I am clicking, or my computer not recognizing it. If anyone knows how I can legaly and sucessfully download armagetron advanced, please let me know.
