Just curious, is there a site out there that is dedicated to the OS Game maker community (if there was such a thing). I know there are a lot of places to host code out there. Sourceforge, Google Code, etc. Having a project on these sites is like waiting for your train in the DC Metro. LOTS of people but some how you feel alone. So I was thinking it would be cool to have a site where game developers, artists etc could get together host projects discuss collaborate.

Does such a site exist?

Yeah but you're not offering project hosting.

Try http://icculus.org/ :p

http://developer.berlios.de/ appears to have some high profile games on it and the site seems a lot faster than sourceforge.

You can always ask questions about game development in the Game Development forum on this site. There are lots of knowledgeable people who could help you :) There's also a Game Development forum on Linux Games.

IRC is good too. There's a channel on Freenode called #gamedev which has a website: http://gpwiki.org/

Ok, I know he goes on to mention hosting but there's a lot of hosts out there. It's not a new hosting site that is required, but what we need is a, "site ... dedicated to the OS Game maker community ... where game developers, artists etc could get together ... discuss collaborate." - exactly what I'm trying to get going. Free Gamer has become a popular read over the last year and I mostly mention games in development so I am convinced there is a market for it.
